What we cover
We report on how environmental change affects people and places, starting from East Africa and following the stories wherever they lead. Our coverage is organised into six sections:
- Climate: Climate science, extreme weather, emissions, adaptation, carbon markets and the policy decisions that shape them.
- Energy: Solar, wind, geothermal and hydropower, the grid that carries them, the fossil fuels they compete with and who gets access.
- Nature: Wildlife, biodiversity, forests, oceans, wetlands and the people working to keep them intact.
- Business: Green finance, ESG claims, sustainable industry, regulation and corporate accountability.
- Science: Environmental research, new studies, pollution and the public health effects of a changing environment.
- Solutions: Innovations, restoration projects, circular economies and approaches being tested on the ground, with an honest look at what works.
How we work
We go to the places we write about, speak to the people affected and show our evidence. Where we rely on data, we explain where it came from and what it can and cannot tell us. When we get something wrong, we correct it openly.
Read our editorial policy for the standards we hold ourselves to, and our corrections policy for how we handle mistakes.
